Application deadline: March 31, 2021
Now and Then: tales of immigration and resiliency will be a virtual exhibition curated by SpanicArts in partnership with ARTING: New Art Manifesto. This exhibition is an extension of our yearly Raices/Roots Exhibition, a project that was envisioned to showcase the artwork of the Hispanic community in Canada.
Since this year’s Raíces exhibition had to be cancelled due to Covid restrictions, we will be hosting a curated online exhibition to feature the work of artists from the Hispanic community. Only 20 artists will be selected to participate.
We welcome submissions exploring the themes of immigration, resilience, and identity. We are looking for artwork that responds to the question: how do our personalities/identities adapt to new realities?
This can be taken from our perspective as immigrants, our need to adapt to the new normal since the pandemic, our resilience when facing drastic changes, self-discovery, and/or the transformation of our lives when reconnecting with our roots or origin. Now and Then: tales of immigration and resiliency is open to all disciplines, visual arts and performing arts, as long as the archives fit the submission guidelines. No entry fee.
Who can apply?
Hispanic artists in Canada or artists in Canada who are inspired by the Hispanic culture.
An artist statement explaining the connection of the work with the theme of the exhibition (300 words max).
Artist Bio (150 words max).
1 image (1920 X 1080 pixels, 300 dpi) (JPG, JPGE). If you are submitting a video, please provide a link to Google Drive or Jumpshare and ensure that we are able to watch it. The video must be 3 minutes max (.mp4). Videos in another language must have English subtitles.
A link to your website, Instagram or Facebook page.
Submit in a single document (.Docx or PDF) and images (JPG) to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line: Now and Then Exhibition Submission - Your Name
